About the project

Grow-light advice should show its work

Grow Light Check helps indoor growers translate incomplete product listings into a defensible starting setup without pretending that watts alone measure plant light.

Why this exists

Grow-light listings often emphasize equivalent wattage or marketing labels while omitting plant-level measurements. This project gives shoppers a consistent way to inspect the available evidence, see what is missing, and compare the estimate with practical plant requirements.

How information is reviewed

Calculation behavior is protected by automated tests. Plant targets use broad consumer ranges and are reviewed against university extension material, established horticultural organizations, peer-reviewed research, and manufacturer photometric data where available. Estimates disclose their source path and uncertainty.

Corrections and contact

If a product identity, specification, source, or plant recommendation appears incorrect, email hello@growlightcheck.com with the page, product link, and supporting evidence. Corrections should improve the model or source record rather than silently changing one result.

Independence

The calculator’s suitability result is computed before any shopping recommendation. Affiliate links, when enabled, are labeled and do not change the lighting calculation.
