Recommendation standards
How a light earns a recommendation
Recommendations are researched for a specific use and exact product identity. The process preserves uncertainty and leaves a position empty when the evidence does not support a responsible pick.

Five checks before publication
- Exact identity: model, size, electrical configuration, and listing identity must refer to the same product.
- Useful evidence: independent measurements are preferred, followed by consistent manufacturer documentation and clearly bounded grower evidence.
- Practical setup: the recommendation states required distance, coverage, mounting, number of bars or bulbs, and any fixture dependency.
- Safety: certifications, dry- or wet-location restrictions, electrical retrofit requirements, heat, and optical cautions remain visible.
- Honest limits: a center reading, equivalent-watt claim, or LED-chip efficacy is not presented as complete canopy performance.
Evidence tiers
| Tier | Meaning |
|---|---|
| A | Independent fixture or canopy measurement supports the stated use. |
| B | Important specifications align across reliable manufacturer or technical sources. |
| C | Exact listing information and bounded real-world use support a limited recommendation. |
Affiliate independence and corrections
The calculator determines suitability before shopping recommendations are considered. Affiliate availability does not change the calculation or evidence tier. Links are labeled, and a purchase may support the site at no extra cost to the buyer.
Products change. Review dates and exact model notes are retained, and corrections can be sent to hello@growlightcheck.com with supporting evidence.
Sources and review basis
Sources support the background guidance; numeric ranges and product-fit conclusions are Grow Light Check’s bounded interpretation.
